Barry R. Davis, M.D., Ph.D., Professor Emeritus at the University of Texas School of Public Health, is a public health doctor and statistician with research interests in public health, preventive medicine, clinical trials, and statistics. Dr. Davis, a graduate of MIT, UCSD School of Medicine, and Brown University, played a leadership role in four landmark NIH hypertension trials – the Hypertension Detection and Follow-up Program (HDFP), the Systolic Hypertension in the Elderly Program (SHEP), the Antihypertensive and Lipid-Lowering to Prevent Heart Attack Trial (ALLHAT), and the Systolic Blood Pressure Intervention Trial (SPRINT). Dr. Davis has published more than 350 peer-reviewed manuscripts and 30 book chapters, supplements, or monographs with over 100,000 citations. Dr. Davis, a Fellow of multiple societies, served as President of the Society for Clinical Trials and was on the FDA Cardiorenal Advisory Committee.
